Karin and I took a weekend mini-vacation to Detroit. Here are the photos I took at the Henry Ford Museum. Click any thumbnail to see a larger version. Click again on that larger version to see it in 3D as a cross-eye stereo pair. Zoom back your browser if the right frame shows as clipped.

Douglas Drive-In Marquee ↑ →
My special reason for wanting to visit was this marquee. It once stood at the Douglass Drive-In Theater just north of Kalamazoo MI. That dirve-in was one of the several local Butterfield chain establishments which my dad managed up until I was about five years old. Some of my earliest memories entail sitting in the projectionist's shack, watching a movie from out the little square hole, and helping the projectionist by watching for the cigarette burn (that little white circle up in one corner) that tells when to switch projectors for a new reel. And probably my first introduction to intricate mechanical devices ... those projectors being quite a linkage of many small gears. Anyhow, here it is, preserved better than I am myself.
