I get a little too far off the beaten path right from the start. Not a lot of photos on the way as my time is limited. So much of the riding was on fast Interstate lanes. I go straight there, stay a few days, then ride straight back. No stops between home and the park.

The main goal of this trip was to attend a family reunion of my mom's side of the family. This is also the town were my father and his two brothers grew up. They three helped to construct this park as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The lake is arteficial.

For the ride back, I was particulary eager to take VA route 16, which on a previouis trip while towing a trailer, I had blown the engine of my GMC Safari Van. This is also a road, which my father reported that he and his two brothers, Rufus and Gene, used to ride their Harleys and Indians up and down, triking sparks off the floorboards at every turn. I didn't try that myself. The views, however, were very fine.
